Want to help researchers (or yourself) communicate complex ideas and share science and research more effectively? Let’s have a chat →
I’m Suzanne Whitby, and SciComm Success is where I help universities, research organisations and research projects develop practical communication skills — from individual workshops and online training to longer programmes, research communication intensives and coaching.
Since 2010, I’ve specialised in in-house training and programmes across Europe, with online training and coaching also available.
Not sure exactly what you need? Not to worry.
Let me help. Tell me what you’re trying to achieve, and I’ll help you work out the best approach.

“Good research has the potential to change how we think, what we value and how we act. But research can only make a difference if it reaches the right people, in a way that they can understand.
That’s why the way you communicate your science matters.
And that’s why SciComm Success exists.”

Communication Specialist, Facilitator, SciComm Success Founder
Trusted by leading research institutions across Europe, including CERN, Innsbruck University, and the Society for Experimental Biology:

Training is practical, applied and delivered in English, supporting native and non-native speakers communicating in international research environments.
We offer practical training, intensive programmes, and strategic support in person across Europe, and online around the world.
Helping researchers, scientists and research teams build the skills to communicate complex ideas with clarity and confidence.
There are three ways I can help you build communication capacity in your institution or research group.
Communication Training
Practical workshops and skills-building sessions
From multi-day workshops to short skills sessions and webinars, our training covers four core areas: presenting and speaking, visual communication, outreach and public engagement, and professional communication.
Immersive Programmes
Immersive learning experiences that build lasting skills and confidence
In-person day- and week-long intensives and semester-long programmes, including the Research Communication Intensive, and my SciComm Impact Week that culminates in a public showcase event.
Strategic Support
For individuals and teams looking for more than skills training
1-to-1 and small group coaching as well as strategic workshops, facilitation and advisory support to develop the expertise, approaches and systems that embed effective science and research communication across teams.
When deeper learning matters, we believe in learning together, in person.
Not all training needs to be a multi-day, in-person experience. A short webinar can be excellent for building awareness, introducing new ideas and prompting people to try something different.
But developing communication skills requires more than tips.
Researchers need opportunities to try something new, receive feedback, try it again and understand how to keep improving. That takes time, practice and interaction. And sometimes, the best place for that is in the room together.
That’s why I am always happy to travel across Europe to deliver facilitator-led, in-person workshops, retreats, intensives and doctoral programmes, with blended learning where it adds value.
And when online training is the right choice, we apply the same principles: live, interactive sessions built around practice and feedback rather than passive delivery. Our shorter online sessions are available worldwide.

Planning communication training for your researchers?
You don’t need to have the programme worked out already. And you don’t need to spend ages reading through the different training topics and formats I offer (unless you want to, of course!)
Take a shortcut.
Tell me about your researchers, what you’re hoping to achieve, the ideas you already have in mind, and where you’re based, and I’ll help you explore what might work.
