SciComm Impact Week: Train-the-Trainer Programme

Equip your team to deliver an Impact Week independently: in your own language and institutional context

Most researchers in Europe communicate primarily in their native language. While we deliver our SciComm Impact Week in English to support internationalisation, institutions increasingly want to run intensive communication training in local languages for local audiences.

Our Train-the-Trainer programme builds that capacity. We train your facilitators to plan, deliver, and evaluate an Impact Week, providing our complete toolkit, and supporting them every step of the way so that they can run an Impact Week independently and sustainably, from start to finish.

How it works

Train-the-Trainer isn’t a workshop about facilitation. It’s hands-on planning and co-delivery of a full Impact Week with expert mentoring and complete access to the lead facilitator for questions and feedback.

Your nominated facilitators-in-training:

Plan the Impact Week alongside our lead facilitator, including dates, venues, participant recruitment, logistics, and pre-programme communication

Co-facilitate a complete 5-day Impact Week alongside our lead facilitator, with real participants and a live showcase event

Receive the full, proven SciComm Impact Week toolkit, which includes checklists, run sheets, session plans, exercises, templates, and participant resources to adapt and use

Get ongoing support throughout, including pre-programme planning, daily debriefs during delivery, post-programme reflection, and remote support during your first independent delivery

After successful delivery, your institution:

  • Can run Impact Week independently in your own language
  • Gains one year of Community of Practice membership (updated materials, quarterly facilitator sessions, European network access)
  • Can certify facilitators who successfully deliver the programme (optional)

Delivery models

Regional SciComm Impact Week, with researchers from over 10 countries and cultural backgrounds.

Regional collaboration (recommended)

Partner with 2-3 nearby institutions to share costs and create a rich, interdisciplinary cohort.

Each institution sends facilitators-in-training and participants.

A SciComm Impact Week Train-the-Trainer programme can be run by a single university or organisation, like the University of Innsbruck's "Sustainability Communication" Impact Week.

Single institution

Run Train-the-Trainer for your institution only, training your team with your own participant cohort.
