Science communication training for researchers in Europe
Research matters beyond academia, but only if people outside it can understand the “why”.
At SciComm Success, we help scientists and researchers make their work accessible, engaging and relevant to the public, policy makers, media and other non-specialist audiences.

Who it’s for
PhD candidates, researchers, research projects and dissemination teams, including nationally-funded projects, Horizon Europe and other EU-funded projects with communication and dissemination goals.
What participants learn
Skill development and application depend on the focus of the training, and can include some or all of the following:
- Finding the story in their research, and why it matters to others
- Explaining complex work without jargon or oversimplification
- Engaging the public through talks, events and participatory formats
- Communicating with policy makers and stakeholders
- Creating content for podcasts, video and social media
- Planning dissemination that reaches the right audiences
Ways to work together
- Presenting Research to Non-expert Audiences Workshop, for scientists and researchers who want to reach more diverse audiences through their presentations
- SciComm Impact Week: five days that end in a showcase of three-minute research talks
- SciComm Studio: explore several formats, then create and present your own piece of science communication
- Training focusing on skills like pitching, presenting, tailoring messages to meet the needs of different audiences, and effective storytelling for science communication
- Strategy and train-the-trainer support for communication and dissemination teams

The workshop that you organised for our researchers on storytelling and podcasting was very well received. We have incorporated what we learned into our Academy of Good Science so that we can share our learning throughout the UMC. Thanks to the follow-up coaching and practical support with scripting opening and closing statement and drafting questions, we are now very close to launching our first podcast. Huge thanks for helping us turn ideas into impact!
