A few 3MT video examples that I share in my 3MT preparation workshops

by Suzanne Whitby, Communication Specialist & Founder

I run several SciComm Impact Weeks each year for universities, research groups, and EU projects. In them, I work with students and PhD candidates for 4x half days, teaching them to distil their message, find a hook, use story structures, delivery techniques and more. On the 5th day, they present their research, in 3 minutes, for a public audience.

This builds on the 3MT or “Three minute Thesis” competition created by the University of Queensland.

When we first meet, I offer them  a few examples of 3MTs to give them some context. Here are a few of my favourites.

At SciComm Success, we help scientists and researchers develop science communication and presentation skills through immersive in-person programmes across Europe, online workshops, and strategic support for research organisations.
